The Bill Walsh Cancer Research Laboratories at the Royal North Shore Hospital is offering a post-doctoral research fellowship in our endothelial research program. We need someone who has practical research experience relevant to developing vaccines and therapeutic antibodies. The fellowship will be based on the NHMRC scale and will be for a period of 2 years subject to satisfactory progress in the first year. There is a possibility of appointment to a research position at the end of two years. Applicants must have a PhD recognised in Australia and be eligible to apply for Australian research funding.
Using a novel proteomics technology we have identified a protein expressed in the vasculature of gliomas that is not detected in the vasculature of normal brain. We plan to develop vaccines and/or therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of glioma, based on this protein target. The Fellow will be responsible for developing therapeutic antibodies and vaccines and for testing these in our rat glioma models. Research experience in innate and cellular immunity is essential as is having hands on research experience with animal models. Experience in vaccine and therapeutic antibody design would be an advantage.
